Azhar Ali Mehmood

Azhar Ali Mehmood murdered 16-year-old Lucy Lowe, her 17-year-old sister Sarah Lowe, and their 49-year-old mother Eileen Linda Lowe in Telford on 5 August 2000. He poured petrol in their home and set it alight, killing them as they slept. Lucy’s 16-month-old child by Mehmood, Tasmin, survived the fire: he removed her from the house and was left outside under a tree. Lucy was pregnant with Mehmood’s second child when she was murdered. A member of the Telford child rape gangs, he had sexually abused Lucy since she was 13. His place of birth has not been made public. In 2001 Mehmood was convicted and sentenced to minimum of 18 years imprisonment.
